First seen Nov 03, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 27 times

Summary

This study compares two types of video laryngoscope blades (hyperangulated vs standard) used to place breathing tubes in critically ill adults with acute respiratory failure. About 2,500 participants in emergency departments and intensive care units will be randomly assigned to one blade type. The main goal is to see which blade leads to successful tube placement on the first try, with a secondary focus on preventing low oxygen levels during the procedure.
