Could a cheap lupus drug protect kidneys in IgA nephropathy?

NCT ID NCT06350630

First seen Jun 16, 2026 · Last updated Jun 16, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether hydroxychloroquine, a drug already used for lupus, can slow kidney damage in people with IgA nephropathy (Berger's disease). About 334 adults in France will receive either the drug or a placebo for several months. The goal is to see if it helps preserve kidney function and reduce protein in the urine.
