This study tested whether breathing hydrogen gas before and after surgery could reduce pain and inflammation in 37 people having back surgery for a herniated disc. Researchers measured pain levels and blood markers of inflammation. The goal was to see if hydrogen inhalation is a safe and effective way to improve recovery.
