Medical gas trial aims to protect newborn brains

NCT ID NCT07411911

Summary

This early study is testing whether adding hydrogen gas to standard cooling therapy is safe and feasible for newborns with moderate-to-severe brain injury caused by oxygen deprivation during birth. The research will involve 54 infants who will receive either standard care alone or standard care plus 2% hydrogen gas for 72 hours. The main goal is to check for safety issues and see if the gas treatment can be reliably delivered, while also looking for early signs it might help reduce brain damage.
