First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 31 times
Summary
This study tested a gel-like spacer placed between the prostate and rectum to protect the rectum during radiation therapy for prostate cancer. Twenty men who were already scheduled for radiation with a hydrogel spacer took part. The main goal was to see if the spacer reduced the amount of radiation reaching the rectum. Results showed it did lower rectal radiation exposure.
