Common drug tested as potential lifesaver for deadly hospital pneumonia
NCT ID NCT05354778
Summary
This study is testing whether adding a common steroid drug (hydrocortisone) to standard treatment helps critically ill patients with severe pneumonia they caught in the hospital. It will compare the steroid against a placebo in 180 intensive care patients across Brazil. The goal is to see if this inexpensive addition can help patients recover faster, avoid complications, and survive this dangerous infection.
