Kidney cancer surgery linked to higher risk of scrotal hydroceles?
NCT ID NCT07527637
First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 3 times
Summary
This study looked at health records of 40,000 men in Ontario, Canada, to see if those who had kidney cancer surgery were more likely to develop a scrotal hydrocele (fluid-filled swelling) compared to men who didn't have the surgery. Researchers compared different surgical approaches, like laparoscopic and open surgery, and matched patients with similar health profiles. The goal was to understand if the surgery itself raises the risk of needing treatment for hydroceles.
