New Double-Action antibody shows promise against Hard-to-Treat cancers
NCT ID NCT04886271
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 27, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This phase 2 trial tested an experimental drug called HX009 in 20 adults with advanced solid tumors that had stopped responding to standard treatments. HX009 is a bifunctional antibody designed to block two proteins (CD47 and PD-1) that help tumors hide from the immune system. The main goal was to see how many patients' tumors shrank or disappeared, and to check for side effects.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
HX009 (a bifunctional antibody that targets CD47 and PD-1 proteins on cancer cells)
What this could lead to
If successful, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with advanced solid tumors who have not responded to standard therapies.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early-phase trial with only 20 participants, so results may not apply to larger populations. The drug may not shrink tumors or could cause side effects like immune-related inflammation.
