New immune cell therapy tracks itself in the body to fight lymphoma
NCT ID NCT07343934
First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026
Summary
This early study tests a new type of cell therapy for people with follicular lymphoma that has come back or not responded to at least two prior treatments. The therapy uses a patient's own immune cells, modified to target cancer cells and also carry a tracking tag that can be seen on PET scans. Only 6 participants will be enrolled to check safety and whether the tracking method works.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only โ not medical advice or a prediction.
- Active substance
- genetically modified immune cells (huCART19-IL18-eDHFR)
- What this could lead to
- If it works, this could point toward a new treatment option for people with follicular lymphoma that has stopped responding to standard therapies.
- What could go wrong
- This is a very early phase 1 trial with only 6 participants, so it is too small to prove effectiveness. The main goal is safety and imaging, not treatment benefit.
