Scientists track rare virus to unlock neurological mystery
NCT ID NCT00001778
Summary
This study aims to understand how the HTLV-1 virus affects people over time, particularly focusing on a rare nerve disorder it can cause called HAM/TSP. Researchers will follow 750 participants, including people infected with the virus (with and without symptoms) and healthy volunteers, to track changes in their health, immune system, and virus levels. The goal is to learn more about the disease's natural progression by collecting blood and spinal fluid samples during regular check-ups.
