Targeted treatment tested for HPV-Linked throat cancers
NCT ID NCT01932697
Summary
This study tested whether giving radiation therapy twice daily along with a chemotherapy drug called docetaxel could better control cancer that returns after surgery for HPV-related throat cancer. The trial involved 81 patients who had their tumors surgically removed but were at higher risk of the cancer coming back. Researchers wanted to see if this more intensive treatment approach could prevent local cancer recurrence while monitoring side effects like mouth sores and swallowing problems.
