Gentler radiation for HPV throat cancer? study tests new approach

NCT ID NCT03777384

Summary

This study is testing whether a lower dose of radiation can safely control HPV-positive throat cancer in people who are non-smokers or minimal smokers. It follows 75 patients for five years to see if the cancer stays away after this 'de-escalated' treatment. The goal is to maintain a high cure rate while potentially reducing long-term side effects and improving quality of life.
