Can teaching doctors about HPV boost vaccine rates?
NCT ID NCT05120869
First seen Jun 25, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study tested whether training healthcare providers on HPV and its vaccine improves their knowledge, attitudes, and communication with patients. Researchers recruited 178 providers in the El Paso border region and compared two types of education programs. The goal was to see if better provider training could reduce vaccine hesitancy and increase HPV vaccine uptake in the community.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
What this could lead to
If successful, this approach could help more people get the HPV vaccine and reduce HPV-related cancers in the community.
What could go wrong
This is a completed behavioral study with 178 providers in one region, so results may not apply to other areas or directly prove increased vaccination.
