Scientists scan brains to see if vape flavors hook users

NCT ID NCT05836051

Summary

This study aimed to understand if certain flavor chemicals in e-cigarettes (vapes) can make them more addictive by changing how the brain responds. Researchers had 36 adult tobacco users try two different vape flavors for ten days while continuing their normal tobacco use. They used brain scans and tracked how much participants vaped to see if one flavor increased brain signals linked to reward and craving.
