Scientists probe if processed foods act like addictive drugs
NCT ID NCT05437809
Summary
This study aims to understand why ultra-processed foods high in fat, sugar, or both are so hard to resist and may lead to overeating. Researchers will measure cravings, mood, and body chemistry in 50 adults with obesity after they eat different snack types. The goal is to identify specific food ingredients that trigger strong reward signals in the brain, which could help develop better treatments for overeating and obesity.
