Can a Therapist's words make virtual reality pain treatment more believable?

NCT ID NCT06282757

Summary

This study looked at how the way a physical therapist talks about virtual reality (VR) treatment affects what patients with chronic pain believe about it. Researchers showed 115 participants different educational videos where the therapist's language was either positive (placebo) or cautious (nocebo). They measured if this changed how credible patients found the treatment, their expectations for it, and even their reported pain levels.
