Brain scans reveal how seeing Others' relief shapes your own pain response
NCT ID NCT04646460
Summary
This study aims to understand how the brain creates the placebo effect, specifically for pain relief. Researchers will use brain scans (fMRI) to see how watching someone else experience pain relief, combined with a person's own initial success or failure with a fake treatment, influences the strength and lasting power of the placebo response. About 120 healthy volunteers will participate in sessions involving observed videos, mild heat stimuli, and brain imaging to map these social and learning pathways.
