First seen Feb 20, 2026 · Last updated May 12, 2026 · Updated 9 times
Summary
This study looked at how a day of low activity (under 5,000 steps) affects the way muscles respond to exercise the next day. Eleven healthy adults completed both an inactive day and a normal activity day, then biked for an hour. Researchers measured blood and muscle samples to understand changes in fat and carbohydrate burning. The goal is to improve exercise guidelines by accounting for daily activity levels.
