First seen Nov 01, 2025 · Last updated May 13, 2026 · Updated 22 times

Summary

This study looked at how the way a physiotherapist talks about virtual reality (VR) affects what people with chronic pain think and expect about their treatment. 115 adults with chronic muscle or joint pain watched an educational video about VR that used either positive (placebo) or negative (nocebo) language. The goal was to see if these different messages changed how credible and helpful they believed the VR treatment would be.
