Could shorter steroid courses be safer for severe pneumonia patients?

NCT ID NCT07328984

First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated May 16, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looks at how long steroids should be given to adults with a severe type of pneumonia (PCP) who have weak immune systems. Patients who get better quickly are split into two groups: one stops steroids after 10 days, the other continues for 21 days. The goal is to see if stopping earlier reduces side effects like infections or high blood sugar, while still keeping patients healthy.
