Scientists film moms and babies to unlock secrets of Depression's impact

NCT ID NCT00044174

Summary

This study aimed to understand how a mother's depression affects her interactions with her baby and the child's early development. Researchers observed and filmed 701 mothers (some depressed, some not) playing with their infants at home and in a lab when the babies were 5, 12, and 24 months old. The goal was to learn how different parenting behaviors influence a child's temperament, thinking skills, and emotional growth.
