Heart study tests safer stents and lower drug doses for ACS patients
NCT ID NCT02193971
First seen May 05, 2026 · Last updated May 06, 2026 · Updated 1 time
Summary
This study looked at over 3,400 people with acute coronary syndrome (a serious heart condition) who needed a stent to open blocked arteries. Researchers compared two types of stents (biostable vs. biodegradable polymer) and two doses of the blood thinner prasugrel (5 mg vs. 10 mg) to see which combination was safer and worked best. The goal was to find ways to reduce heart attacks, strokes, and bleeding risks while still effectively managing the disease.
