Smart alerts aim to prevent dangerous blood sugar swings in hospital

NCT ID NCT05941286

Summary

This study tested whether special alerts from continuous glucose monitors help hospitalized diabetes patients manage their blood sugar better. Researchers enrolled 533 adults with type 1 or type 2 diabetes who needed intensive insulin therapy while in the hospital. They compared standard monitoring to a system that provides real-time alerts when blood sugar levels become too high or too low.
