Scientists test hormone to turn up Body's Fat-Burning furnace

NCT ID NCT03777215

Summary

This early-stage study aims to understand if a natural hormone, angiotensin-(1-7), can help the body burn more calories at rest. Researchers will give the hormone or a placebo (saltwater) through an IV to 30 adults with obesity and measure changes in their energy use and fat tissue. The goal is to gather basic knowledge about how this hormone works, which could inform future treatments for obesity.
