Zapping away gut pain: At-Home device tested for IBS relief

NCT ID NCT05519683

Summary

This study is testing if a home-based electrical stimulation therapy (called TEA) can reduce abdominal pain in people with irritable bowel syndrome with constipation (IBS-C). It will compare the TEA device against a common antidepressant medication (escitalopram) and a sham (fake) device to see which is most effective. About 160 participants will use their assigned treatment at home for 8 weeks while tracking their pain and symptoms.
