Smartwatch and app trial aims to catch surgery complications early
NCT ID NCT04986566
Summary
This study is testing whether sending patients home with simple devices like a smartwatch, thermometer, and scale after major digestive cancer surgery helps them recover better. The goal is to see if tracking daily health data like steps, weight, and symptoms can help doctors spot potential problems early, before they become serious. The trial involves 134 patients who are randomly assigned to either have their data monitored in real-time by their surgical team or to follow standard reporting procedures.
