Robot hand coach lets patients rehab at home without a therapist
NCT ID NCT07182734
First seen Jun 26, 2026 · Last updated Jun 26, 2026
Summary
This study tests whether a hand rehabilitation device called ReHandyBot, paired with a smartphone app called RehabCoach, can help people recover after a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or orthopedic problem. Thirty participants will first use the device under supervision at a clinic, then take it home for daily unsupervised therapy. The goal is to see if patients can use the tools safely and stick to their therapy schedule on their own.
What this could mean
Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.
Active substance
ReHandyBot hand rehabilitation device and RehabCoach smartphone app
What this could lead to
If successful, this could show that home-based robotic therapy is safe and effective, potentially expanding rehab options for stroke, brain injury, and orthopedic patients.
What could go wrong
This is a small, early feasibility study with only 30 participants. It does not measure long-term recovery, and the device may not work well for everyone or may have technical issues.
