First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study looked at whether having a dental professional clean the teeth of older adults in their own homes can prevent root cavities. The researchers enrolled 194 people aged 65 and older who needed help with daily care. They compared those who got professional cleaning plus high-fluoride toothpaste every three months to those who kept their usual oral care routine. The goal was to see if this approach improves oral health and reduces tooth decay.
