Zap your pain away? home brain stimulation trial challenges common fibromyalgia drug

NCT ID NCT07203339

Summary

This study is testing if a home-based, non-invasive brain stimulation treatment is as good as a common medication (duloxetine) for managing fibromyalgia. It will involve 610 women with fibromyalgia who will use either the brain stimulation device, take the medication, or receive a placebo, all while also doing physical exercise and learning about pain. The main goal is to see if the brain stimulation can control pain and improve daily life as effectively as the drug, with potentially fewer side effects.
