Summary
This study tests whether a prebiotic supplement called human milk oligosaccharides (HMOs), naturally found in breast milk, can help adults living in Antarctica maintain a healthy gut, immune system, and metabolism. 26 healthy adults wintering at the Concordia station will either receive HMOs or a placebo. Researchers will track changes in blood sugar, inflammation, and gut bacteria over several months.
