First seen Jan 11, 2026 · Last updated Jun 12, 2026 · Updated 25 times

Summary

This study looks at whether a supplement called HMB (a natural substance made from the amino acid leucine) can help reverse muscle loss in people who have both alcoholic liver disease and COVID-19 pneumonia. The researchers will track changes in muscle mass and hospital visits over 90 days. About 48 adults with these conditions will take the supplement to see if it improves recovery and reduces severe illness.
