Could a vaccine and antibody shot free HIV patients from daily meds?

NCT ID NCT04983030

First seen Jan 12, 2026 · Last updated May 18, 2026 · Updated 19 times

Summary

This study tests whether a special vaccine plus three lab-made antibodies can help people with HIV control the virus without taking daily antiretroviral therapy (ART). About 36 adults with well-controlled HIV will receive the vaccine and antibodies or a placebo, then temporarily stop their regular HIV meds to see if the virus stays low. The goal is to find a safer, easier way to manage HIV long-term, but participants may still need some medication.
