HIV patients stop meds in bold search for 'Functional Cure'

NCT ID NCT04860323

Summary

This study tested whether people who got an experimental antibody (VRC01) before catching HIV could better control the virus without daily medication. 13 participants who started HIV treatment early stopped their pills under very close medical monitoring. Researchers watched to see if their immune systems could keep the virus in check on their own, which is a step toward long-term HIV control.
