Friendship chain reaction aims to uncover hidden HIV cases

NCT ID NCT06857071

Summary

This study tests a new way to find more people with undiagnosed HIV in South Africa, especially men who are often reluctant to get tested. It asks people who are newly diagnosed to invite friends and family members they think could benefit from an HIV test, creating a chain of peer referrals. The goal is to see if this approach finds more undiagnosed cases, gets more men tested, and reduces the stigma that stops people from seeking testing and care.
