One pill, two diseases: new HIV treatment tested alongside TB drugs
NCT ID NCT04734652
Summary
This study tested if a single-tablet HIV medication (Biktarvy®) works safely in people who are also taking strong antibiotics for tuberculosis (TB). It involved 122 adults in South Africa who had both HIV and TB and were new to HIV treatment. Researchers compared this simpler pill to the standard multi-pill treatment to see if it could effectively control the HIV virus while patients completed their TB therapy.
