Early test of 3-Month vaginal ring to block HIV

NCT ID NCT03670355

Summary

This early-stage study tested a vaginal ring designed to be worn for 90 days to prevent HIV infection. It aimed to see if the ring safely delivered a preventive drug called tenofovir to the right areas of the body. The study involved 49 healthy, HIV-negative women who were randomly assigned to receive either the active ring or a placebo ring for about three months.
