Could a shot every 6 months replace daily HIV pills?

NCT ID NCT05729568

First seen Jun 27, 2026 ยท Last updated Jun 27, 2026

Summary

This study tests whether a combination of two lab-made antibodies and an antiviral drug called lenacapavir, given every 6 months, can keep HIV under control in adults whose virus is already suppressed by daily pills. About 83 participants will either switch to the new long-acting regimen or stay on their current oral therapy. The main goal is to see if the new treatment is as effective at keeping HIV levels low after 26 weeks.
