HIV treatment simplified: dual therapy may keep virus in check

NCT ID NCT02302547

First seen Jan 04, 2026 · Last updated Apr 28, 2026 · Updated 18 times

Summary

This study tested whether people with well-controlled HIV could safely switch from a three-drug regimen to a two-drug regimen (Truvada only) to reduce side effects and costs. It included 224 participants who had low levels of HIV in their body and strong immune systems. The goal was to see if the simpler treatment could keep the virus undetectable for 48 weeks.
