Could an old HIV pill be the answer for millions with chronic throat problems?

NCT ID NCT04383262

Summary

This study is testing if fosamprenavir, a drug approved for HIV, can help people with laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), a common throat condition causing cough and hoarseness. Current acid-reducing medicines often don't work for LPR. Researchers believe this HIV drug might block a different cause of the damage. About 104 adults who didn't improve with standard treatment will take either the drug or a placebo pill for 12 weeks to see if their symptoms get better.
