Scientists probe if sound waves can wake up immune system to fight cancer

NCT ID NCT07361107

Summary

This small, early-stage study aims to understand how a non-invasive treatment called histotripsy affects the body's immune system in people with colorectal cancer that has spread to the liver. Histotripsy uses focused sound waves to destroy liver tumors. Researchers will take blood samples from 12 participants before and after the procedure to see if it changes specific immune cells, hoping this information can guide future combination treatments with immunotherapy.
