New scanner could slash repeat breast cancer surgeries by half
NCT ID NCT07527468
First seen Apr 17, 2026 · Last updated May 24, 2026 · Updated 4 times
Summary
This study tests a special scanner that lets surgeons check, in real time during surgery, whether they removed all the cancer from the breast. It is for women with certain high-risk breast cancer types. If the scanner shows leftover cancer, the surgeon can remove more tissue right away, aiming to reduce the need for a second surgery.
