Heated chemo bath tested to prime stomach cancer for newer treatments

NCT ID NCT04107077

Summary

This study is testing a procedure called HIPEC, where heated chemotherapy is washed directly into the abdomen during surgery, for people with stomach cancer that has spread to the abdominal lining. The main goal is to see if this treatment makes the cancer cells more visible to the body's immune system, which could help future immunotherapy drugs work better. Researchers will also check if the procedure helps shrink tumors enough for surgical removal and will monitor patient safety and survival.
