Hip replacement showdown: does a collar on the implant prevent sinking?

NCT ID NCT07337642

First seen Jan 17, 2026 · Last updated May 14, 2026 · Updated 14 times

Summary

This study compares two types of hip implants used in total hip replacement: one with a collar and one without. The goal is to see if the collared implant reduces sinking (subsidence) and lowers the risk of fractures around the implant. About 100 adults getting a first-time hip replacement will be randomly assigned to receive one of the two implants and will be followed for one year with X-rays and check-ups.
