Summary

This study compares two types of hip replacement cups: standard unipolar cups and dual-mobility cups, which have an extra moving part to lower dislocation risk. Researchers will enroll 300 adults getting a first-time hip replacement through a front-of-hip approach. The main goal is to see if patients feel more natural and forget about their new hip two years after surgery, measured by a special questionnaire.

What this could mean

Our plain-language read of the trial. This is informational only — not medical advice or a prediction.

Active substance

dual-mobility cup and unipolar cup (hip replacement implants)

What this could lead to

If successful, this trial could show that dual-mobility cups are as good as or better than standard cups for hip replacement, potentially reducing dislocation risk and improving patient satisfaction.

What could go wrong

This is a single-center trial with 300 participants, so results may not apply to all patients. Dual-mobility cups have rare risks like intra-prosthetic dislocation or wear, though newer designs have reduced these concerns.
