New nerve block aims to ease hip fracture pain without numbing leg muscles

NCT ID NCT05102760

Summary

This study is comparing two different nerve block injections for treating the severe pain of a hip fracture in the emergency department. It aims to see if a newer method (PENG block) works as well for pain relief as a common standard method (FIC block). The newer method is designed to target only pain nerves, potentially allowing patients to move their leg better after the injection. The study involves 80 adults with isolated hip fractures.
