New nerve block may reduce pain without weakening legs after hip surgery
NCT ID NCT05961436
Summary
This study compared two methods of pain control for patients having hip fracture surgery. Researchers tested whether a newer nerve block (PENG block) could provide similar pain relief as a standard block (femoral nerve block) while better preserving patients' ability to use their leg muscles after surgery. The trial involved 100 patients aged 50+ with hip fractures to see which approach better supports recovery.
