Researchers track hip damage in young adults to guide future treatment
NCT ID NCT02408276
Summary
This study aimed to understand why some young adults with a hip condition called femoroacetabular impingement (FAI) develop cartilage damage and pain while others do not. Researchers followed 130 patients aged 35 or younger for five years, using MRI scans and questionnaires to track their hip health. The goal was to identify which patient characteristics and hip shapes lead to the best outcomes after surgery or non-surgical care, to help doctors make better treatment decisions in the future.
