Radiation boost tested to shrink rectal tumors, spare surgery

NCT ID NCT07200141

Summary

This study is testing if giving a higher, more focused dose of radiation to the main tumor before surgery can help shrink it more effectively. It will compare the higher dose to the standard dose in about 156 adults with locally advanced rectal cancer. The goal is to see if the stronger treatment leads to better tumor control and potentially allows more patients to avoid major surgery.
