Intense new attack on childhood cancer combines radiation, chemo, and stem cells

Summary
This study tested a complex, multi-step treatment plan for children and young adults newly diagnosed with high-risk neuroblastoma, a serious childhood cancer. The goal was to see if it was possible and safe to combine intensive chemotherapy, a targeted radiation drug (MIBG), a stem cell transplant, and other therapies. The trial enrolled 99 patients to see if this aggressive approach could better control the disease.
