New MRI technique could spare patients from unnecessary brain surgery

NCT ID NCT04285125

First seen Jan 07, 2026 · Last updated May 15, 2026 · Updated 20 times

Summary

This study aims to improve the diagnosis of a rare, non-cancerous brain tumor called MVNT using ultra-high resolution MRI scans. Currently, standard scans can leave uncertainty, leading some patients to have invasive surgery to remove a harmless growth. By comparing standard and advanced MRI images in 33 adults, researchers hope to create clearer diagnostic criteria and reduce unnecessary procedures.
